Fall is here and we at Luxury Simplified could not be happier. The weather is crisp, the leaves are changing and there are many activities to enjoy. This time of year offers a variety of fun community events for the whole family; and not just watching football! Check out our favorite events happening around town this month!

The Fall Tours of Homes is happening October 3rd to 27th and Luxury Simplified is honored be a part of it. Hosted by the Preservation Society, the Tours are in their 37th year. Attendees will get a chance to get an insider’s look at some of Charleston’s most beautiful historic homes and gardens. From Radcliffeborough to the Uptown areas of the Peninsula, you are sure to get a sense of how great this town truly is. Luxury Simplified is proud to say our office at 95 Broad Street, also known as The Major Peter Bocquet House, is on the Charleston Architectural Overview tours every Thursday night and tickets are still available! October 4th presents the French Quarter Art Walk. This walk guides you through the most beautiful galleries in the downtown area; all within walking distance of each other. The French Quarter is the center of visual arts in town located between S. Market and Tradd Street, Meeting Street and the waterfront. This area is filled with beautiful works of art that add to that famous Charleston feel.

Considering October is the month of spooks and ghouls, Boone Hall Plantation offers their annual Fright Nights now through the beginning of November. This is South Carolina’s largest multi-attraction haunted event and sure to be fun for the whole family! The historic plantation is located in Mt. Pleasant, just moments away from downtown Charleston and surrounding areas.

What a better way to celebrate Halloween than to attend The Great Pumpkin Patch at Bethany United Methodist Church. They receive tons of pumpkins in all shapes, sizes and colors. Be sure to pick out the best pumpkin and ask the volunteers about their creative carving techniques! Bethany United Methodist Church is located on Maybank Highway; right in the middle of the cozy and welcoming James Island area.

Start your day off right on October 12th by participating in the Avondale 5K Run + Walk! This fundraiser benefits The Charles Webb Center. The entire family is welcome to attend, even your well behaved dog! This 5K takes you through the awesome neighborhood of Avondale in West Ashley where it is a great place to live and play. Register now and be a part of the 6th largest 5K in the Lowcountry!

Anybody love macaroni and cheese as much as we do? After attending the Avondale 5K, head over to the Mac Off at The Grove at Patriots Point. This is one of the largest macaroni and cheese festivals in the country! Bring your own blankets and chairs to relax upon while sampling some of the best mac and cheese on the east coast. There will be a zip line, TVs to watch football, cooking demonstrations, live music from local bands and much more!

Another amazing event you don’t want to miss is the Red Party. Hosted by The American College of Building Arts, their 5th annual fundraiser in the Old City Jail on Friday, October 25th will celebrate the craft of artisans and traditional builders alike. The theme this year is influenced by The Great Gatsby. Throw on your spiffy glad rags and divulge in the roaring 20’s Riddled with live entertainment, music, auctions and cocktails, this party will be the cat’s pajamas for sure!

Ever feel like running away from zombies, just for practice? If you answered yes then the rUNdead 5K on October 26th will give you just that. Runners compete against the clock through a winding and weaving trail in the woods, over bumpy bridges and a rugged terrain all the while escaping relentless, vile zombies…in the dark! This bloodcurdling event is happening at the Wannamaker County Park in North Charleston. Be sure to show up with your brains, vigor and blood…for the zombies of course.
